Growing up in Northern Minnesota, my family often attended the Cass Lake Pow-Wow. I remember the drums and singing filling me with joy and the need to dance to the steady rich drum. 

Last summer I enjoyed the drum circles and dancers at the Onigum Pow Wow. This little dancer was so full of heart and rhythm. I couldn't help but paint him.  I thought watercolor would work best with it's free flowing movement and vibrant pigment.

Scandinavian Underwater Garden II *SOLD

In the bright watercolor style of my Scandinavian Garden series, I have added a new Underwater Garden painting. This little watercolor is very light and playful. The M Graham watercolor palette is an intense play of complimentary colors.

Fly About - original graphite drawing *SOLD

My favorite bird variety changes from time to time but lately the woodpecker and it's fly - fly - glide style really speaks to me. This graphite drawing represents 3 Woodpeckers in flight. I tried to give the drawing a fluid feel as if all three birds are one. The piece is as much about the motion of the lines of the drawing as it is about the swoop of the Woodpecker's flight style.

Light Among the Wind - Totem Painting

Blue Angelica - Original by Jessie Townsdin *SOLD

Blue Angelica is complete.  After paring-down my palette to 6 main colors, I decided to keep my used tubes and see how much paint really goes into a canvas this size. As you can see - Blue Angelica provided many hours of entertainment as I built up the blues for a rich buttery base of paint. 

This piece is a large 40" x 40" acrylic painting on stretched canvas. The stretcher bars are 1.5" thick with cross braces. 

Angelica, with it's protective and healing properties, was my inspiration here.

These are funny little watercolors done in the same style as the Scandinavian Garden series of watercolor paintings.
