Wisdom of the Iris

What is it about the Iris that feels so regal and wise? The elegant colors, complimentary veining and swooping curve of the petals and leaves are a painters dream. I imagined this one as a woodcut print and painted it to have that feel.

Wisdom of the Iris is a brushed acrylic ink painting on 140 lb. paper. It is professionally framed with conservation glass to a final size of 12.5"x10". This piece is available at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN. for $295.00 | 218-547-3729

Life Intertwined •ON HOLD

The interdependence of flowers, birds and insects is fascinating. Observing a hummingbird pulling nectar from a flower feels me with awe. With this painting I was trying to show the same hummingbird in motion as it drinks from a phlox bloom.

Life Intertwined is a brushed acrylic ink painting on 140 lb. paper. This piece is professionally framed with conservation glass to a final size of 15.75" square. This piece is available at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN.

8" prints on steel and cards are also available.

Spring in Green and White

This spring has been a good one for blooms and leaves and anything that grows well with water. I could probably spend a year just painting blooms. I confess, I haven't figured out exactly what type of blooms I have painted here. This is more about the feeling of spring-time and fresh starts.

Spring in Green and White is a brushed acrylic ink painting on aquabord. The frame is a beautiful greenish grey that you can't quiet see in the photo. This piece is professionally framed to a final size of 8.8" square. It is available at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN. for $165.00 | 218-547-3729

Willow Midge •SOLD

I took a photo of beautiful dancing leaves framing a cone and have been looking forward to painting it. Something about the layers of leaves had a wonderful movement to it. After painting the piece I asked my husband what I was painting. It turns out that the cone is called a gull and the leaves are from a willow. A midge could hatch out of the cone. Isn't that fascinating? Nature is so inspiring.
