This little piece was a fun sketch that decided it wanted to be a painting. This kayaker just spent a lovely afternoon touring the bay and is now enjoying a moment of fading light with the satisfied exhaustion that fresh air and exercise bring.

It's the season to add to my Modern Scandinavian series. When things calm down and I get to reflect on the year - more colorful and whimsical creations come about. The top photo is from my Mom's garden early in the fall. Her Dahlias are amazing with their wild movement and intricate pieces - so much life, color and personality!

My first completed painting for 2020 was inspired by family and ice skating over the holidays. It's not often we get good ice over Christmas and we were all enjoying it this year. Pond Skating is about friends, family and the joy of being outside on the ice and snow.
Pond Skating is a brushed acrylic ink painting on 140 lb. hot press arches watercolor paper. If you look close you can see the Arches watermark in the bottom right corner of the piece. I thought it was about time my Walker, Minn. painting series included a man. I wanted a piece that would compliment Morning Mist and one that spoke to the wonderful outdoorsmen in this area. I wanted this piece to contain the energy of the guys who love to get their gear together and go fishing in any kind of weather. This guy was geared up for rain but the day turned nice and the sun came out and of course - the fish were biting.
