Small Town Get-A-Way series 2

I enjoy observing visitors coming to town to enjoy the small town charm. A coffee in hand is a must and flannel or cozy coats always adds to the environment. I know we sometimes ask too many questions about where you are from but it's fun to hear the stories that come with the happy people who visit the area from generation to generation.

Monarch on Milkweed • SOLD

 This painting is a commissioned piece. I was asked to paint a Monarch butterfly in a Milkweed setting. I could instantly picture the painting and was excited to work on it.

May Days

 

I confess, this painting started out as a winter scene. It was a serene monotone piece and was nearly finished when the monotone days of winter made me really want color. . . and then....I added more color and more color until it was a warm early spring day and I could hear the birds and the moving water. 

This is a palette knife painting which I use a lot of paint on. Because of the change in direction my paint got even thicker. There is a lot of paint on this piece. I recommend seeing it in person. Some will like the thick paint but it might not appeal to everyone.
