Morning Song

I should have saved all the stages of this painting. In my original sketch the woman was wearing shorts. The shorts didn't have the right mood so I gave her leggings. The leggings felt like they needed something....that's how the shirt around her waist came about. Alas, she felt like she got her morning workout in and was enjoying the happy endorphins of getting the morning started right as she enjoys the sunrise glow over the lake.

Morning Song is a brushed acrylic ink painting on hot press watercolor paper. This painting is professionally framed with non-glare glass. The final framed size is 14.5" square. This piece is available at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN. for $455.00 | 218-547-3729

Lake Memories • SOLD

Lake Memories was a commissioned piece. This request came from someone who has several of my prints. He wanted an original painting to memorialize his relationship with a loved cat that passed away. After receiving several photos of the scene I created this 8" painting on 140 lb. hot press arches paper. The final painting was well received and I was happy to create a reminder of happy days at the lake.

May Days •SOLD

I confess, this painting started out as a winter scene. It was a serene monotone piece and was nearly finished when the monotone days of winter made me really want color. . . and then....I added more color and more color until it was a warm early spring day and I could hear the birds and the moving water.

This is a palette knife painting which I use a lot of paint on. Because of the change in direction my paint got even thicker. There is a lot of paint on this piece. I recommend seeing it in person. Some will like the thick paint but it might not appeal to everyone.

May Days is a 30" square acrylic painting on stretched canvas with painted edges. This painting is available at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN. | 218-547-3729

The View from Here I & II •SOLD

The View from Here I & II were commissioned pieces from a thoughtful husband to his wife. The criteria for the painting was pretty open and the photos that were sent, for inspiration, were just what I needed. I was so inspired that I painted 2 pieces and both pieces were purchased. I am told the surprise went over very well, which is always a relief to me.

The View from Here I is an acrylic painting on stretched canvas. The View from Here II is a brushed acrylic ink painting on 140 lb. hot press paper. Both pieces are sold.

There is a frame shop in Wisconsin called Avenue Art. Since the first time I entered their doors it has been a favorite stop every time my family is in Appleton. Silver and Gold •SOLD

My first painting of 2025 is complete. One of my favorite days of 2024 included a stop at a golden beach on a hot summer evening. As my son played in the water I noticed a paddle-boarder enjoying a smooth paddle as the light faded. As she got closer, the woman that I thought was young, now appeared to be a silver haired and fit woman in her retirement years. She beached her board and went for a refreshing swim. It was obvious that she was savoring the day. As she paddled off into the distance I found I was filled with inspiration.

I wish us all a healthy and prosperous new year filled with plenty of fresh air and sunshine. Here is to 2025 - Cheers!

Kingfisher's Post

My paintings slow down a bit during the summer months. This one has been on my easel, beckoning me to finish it, while the model - my Kingfisher inspiration calls from her post. I photographed the finished painting on the dock boards, where the Kingfisher sits. The Kingfisher watched, from a distance, as I took the photos of the painting. I heard her chattering away - I hope she liked her painting.

Grounding •SOLD

My intention, with this painting, is to center the viewer and remind you how grounding trees, water, sunshine and fresh air are to the soul. Bare-Feet & Coffee Morning •SOLD

The vacation vibe is what this painting is all about. Waking up, when your body tells you it's time. You brew a cup of coffee and throw on your comfy clothes, grab a mug and saunter...with bare-feet to savor the view as you decide what you feel like playing for the rest of the day. THAT is what Bare-Feet and Coffee Morning represents.

Good Days - series 1 & 2 •SOLD

It was an exciting day around our house, a few years ago, when my nieces bought new kayaks. I photographed them on the water as they tested out their kayaks. It was a sunny spring day and those photos have given me plenty of painting inspiration. For those of you who love the movement of kayaking and open water - I hope you connect with these.

Good Days - series 1(top photo) & 2(bottom photo) are brushed acrylic ink on 140 lb. hot press paper. They are double matted and framed with conservation glass. I did modify the matting by painting them an off white tone which gives the pieces a playful but less polished feel. I suggest seeing them in person to see how you feel about them. Good Days series 1 is framed to a final size of 11.75"x8.75". Good Days series 2 is framed to a final size of 11.5"x9.5".

I had to think about it and realized that I have not, which is odd since I am a Mother to a son and I love the strong bond we have. Puppy Days •SOLD

The amount of time a puppy is a puppy is so fleeting. Maybe that is why seeing those big puppy paws and floppy ears are so happy and memorable. This puppy and woman were at city park, one afternoon, when I was there with my son. The puppy actually wasn't with the woman but she took a moment to pet it and looked thoughtful as it played by her feet.

Puppy Days is a brushed acrylic ink painting on 140 lb. hot press paper. It is framed with conservation glass to a final size of 12.5"x10.5"/ This painting is available at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN. | 218-547-3729

Time & Space •SOLD

When considering commission paintings, I make sure I have enough connection with the idea in order to do justice to the piece. This piece was about a favorite rock over looking Leech Lake with a loved dog companion - enjoying the sun setting. I think many of us can relate to this feeling. There was an added bonus, for me, because the view included Goose Island in the distance. My Grandparents had a campground that faced the opposite side of Goose Island. Some of my absolute favorite memories include summers at the Camper's Landing beach with Goose Island in the distance.

I used a combination of Palette knife and pointillism to give the painting a summer sun on water feel. I was asked to keep this piece loose and light feeling. With the optical mixing your eye fills in the spaces to make it feel like light reflecting color.

Time & Space is a 24"x24" acrylic painting on stretched canvas with painted edges.  Cards will be available soon.
