Vantage Point

Last summer we saw a bountiful hatch of Easter Kingbird - flycatchers. The adorable fluff balls would gather and cover the branches surrounding our house. As the grew, they spread out and found their own lookouts and claimed individual branches. I thought this guy picked a particularly sweet branch overlooking the lake.

Flycatcher in the Willow •SOLD

The inspiration for this piece came from the colorful spring willow that grows near the shoreline. The yellows, reds and greens have a beautiful twist and turn that asked to be painted. We had an abundance of Kingbirds playing in and around the willow as well SO naturally the Flycatchers became my models.

This piece has a similar feel to my Modern Scandinavian Series but has a more organic feel, therefore it goes with the series but is not titled as so.
