After the Fire *SOLD

After the Fire was inspired by the stem of a Fire Weed after the blooms are finished. Fire Weed itself is a beautiful plant but I am most fond of the swirl it creates when the stem is dried by the elements. The movement and color has a harmonious feel. I read that Fire Weed is one of the first plants to take over after a fire. The title has double meaning - after the fire - Fire Weed appears. After the Fire Weed blooms - harmonious swirls appear.

This piece is hard to photograph - it really must be seen in person to feel the true color and movement. Also, the colors change dramatically depending on the light. I used a lot of deep Naples yellow to contrast the rich reds but also added a top layer of a warm grey that comes out when the painting is in shadow.

Warmth *SOLD

For this latest painting - I pictured warm tones - a day where the sun warms your face and hair - a light breeze keeps you from getting too hot. I picture a content tone and inspired thoughts. When I picture these things I picture these colors.

This piece is not going to appeal to everyone but some will feel it like I do and it will warm their eyes and fill their thoughts with summer breezes, evenings on the lake or a mind clearing walk....at least I hope it will. Sometimes we need a  piece that relaxes our minds and brings us to a clearer space. This pieces will be at home surrounded by open windows, candles, wine and music.

Standing Still

I always enjoy painting, no matter what the subject is, but….abstracts seem to be the ones I hang in my house.  The movement and color constantly change - I never get tired of an abstract. This piece is designed to hang horizontal or vertical which allows even more versatility in a space.

The title: Standing Still - is about the contentment felt by standing in place and admiring your surroundings.
