Great Mother Cardinal NFS

My Grandmother asked me to design her Christmas cards last year. I immediately thought of a sweet bird in a winter setting. My thoughts went to the female cardinal for their regal presence and beauty. I have not seen a cardinal in our yard in many years so I referenced photos I took in Wisconsin, the year before. To my delight, several weeks after finishing this painting, one lone female cardinal started to visit our feeder. She was beautiful and social. She would be the first one to sit at the empty feeder and look in the window to request more seed. We were buddies and she made me think of Grandmother. She stayed about a month before heading on, probably to find more cardinal friends but I think she will be back!

Great Mother Cardinal is a brushed acrylic ink painting on 140 lb. hot press paper. The original hangs and my Grandmother's place - where she belongs.

Patio Garden (#2 in the Garden Series) *SOLD

#2 -In the Garden- series is complete! I was inspired by an artist's style at the Duluth Bayfront art festival this summer. She was working with jewelry but I pictured her in a garden with her flowing style. I wanted this piece to be vertical - to compliment the square first piece of the garden series.

This painting is about the small spaces we nurture to grow flowers, vegetable and herbs. It's about patios and sunlight and little sanctuaries. I want you to feel calm and hopeful when you look at this painting.

Patio Garden (#2 in the Garden Series) is a brushed acrylic ink painting on hot press paper. It is professionally framed with conservation glass. Final framed size is 12"x18". This painting is available at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN | 218-547-3729

6"x12" prints on powder coated steel with hanging brackets are also available for $42 each.

Dancing Spirit •SOLD

Dancing Spirit started out as a sketch that I had in mind for an Ethnic Festival image. Ethnic Fest is my favorite Walker, Minn. Festival. It is filled with dance, music, food and lots of colorful sites and sounds - all based on Ethnic traditions and costumes. My sketch turned into an illustration which did become an Ethnic Festival button this year and the Leech Lake Area Chamber of Commerce printed the design on shirts for the festival.

The inspiration for this painting and design comes from our beautiful local Anishinaabe fancy shawl dancers. For the painting, I placed the dancer near the water and grass - where she is celebrating the beauty of this area.

Dancing Spirit is a brushed acrylic ink painting on 140 lb. paper. It is professionally framed and matted with conservation glass. The final framed size is 11"x13". This piece is available at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN.  | 218-547-3729
