Star Thistle •SOLD

The florist is a wonderful world of inspiration. On one visit I spied thistle with a lovely tone and dancing petals that asked me to paint them. I admit the real thistle was much more delicate with intricate  detail that wooed me. My painting is a simplified version of the lovely beings.

Star Thistle is a brushed acrylic ink painting on 187 lb. hot press paper. This piece is professionally framed with conservation glass. The final framed size is 9.25" x 19.25". It is available at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN  | 218-547-3729

Christmas Morning NFS

I was inspired by my son for this little painting. After a beautiful snowfall he bundled up and headed for his sled. The morning felt peaceful and magical. I had to add birds and a snowman for some more fun. . . and of course the bunny that visits on occasion. A Christmas morning scene is not complete without a cozy cabin surrounded by flocked pines.

Christmas Morning is a brushed acrylic ink painting on 187 lb. hot press paper. It is professionally framed to a final size of 10.75"x16.75" with conservation glass. My son decided he needed to have this one for his room. I will have prints and cards available soon | 218-547-3729

Dancing Spirit •SOLD

Dancing Spirit started out as a sketch that I had in mind for an Ethnic Festival image. Ethnic Fest is my favorite Walker, Minn. Festival. It is filled with dance, music, food and lots of colorful sites and sounds - all based on Ethnic traditions and costumes. My sketch turned into an illustration which did become an Ethnic Festival button this year and the Leech Lake Area Chamber of Commerce printed the design on shirts for the festival.

The inspiration for this painting and design comes from our beautiful local Anishinaabe fancy shawl dancers. For the painting, I placed the dancer near the water and grass - where she is celebrating the beauty of this area.

Dancing Spirit is a brushed acrylic ink painting on 140 lb. paper. It is professionally framed and matted with conservation glass. The final framed size is 11"x13". This piece is available at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN.  | 218-547-3729

Strawberry Blonde Summer *SOLD

As my nieces and nephews get older - and more reflective - they become subjects for more paintings. Most times they have no idea I have captured their images for my panting files. This moment was captured last summer as my oldest niece watched her cousins playing on the lake. I am enjoying observing these beautiful souls and seeing where their interests take them.

Strawberry Blonde Summer is a brushed acrylic ink painting on 350 lb. paper. It is professionally framed with conservation glass. The final size is 11"x8.25". This piece is available at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN  218-547-3729

Blue Deep *SOLD

When I started this canvas I was picturing water singing with deep blues under a blue sky. I was going for an emotional connection with thick layers dancing off of each other. The more the piece developed the more I felt it needed context. Sometimes I just can't leave an abstract as an abstract and this is one of those times. I feel like the piece is still about the water but the pair canoeing help give it a nice flow.

Blue Deep is acrylic on canvas with 1.5" thick stretcher bars and painted edges. The size is 24"x36". This piece is available at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN  | 218-547-3729

Braids, Baskets and Sun-dress Days *SOLD

This mother and daughter visit my shop occasionally. They are always dressed cute and are thoughtful with their family. On this particular day I couldn't resist asking to photograph them. Aimee was shopping with her basket on her arm as her daughter looked on. Both had a lovely energy about them and they humored me while I took a few photos.

My 3 year old son was intrigued when I showed him the finished piece. He commented on the basket, the girl and her Mom - imagining who they were. After some thought he said to me, "Mom, you painted them the wrong way - I can't see them."

Braids, Baskets and Sun-dress Days is an original brushed ink painting on 140 lb. mixed media hot press paper. Artwork is 8"x10" and framed to a final size of 16"x18" with conservations glass. This piece is available at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN  | 218-547-3729
