Take to the Sky & Water *SOLD

This painting is a commissioned piece. As with all commission requests, I take suggestion on size  and subject. For this one, the customer liked my palette knife sailboat paintings but wanted a float plane as the feature. She sent me float plane photos that she had taken and I used those for the plane model. I wanted the piece to feel calm and open.

With commissions, I give the customer, first opportunity to buy the piece. If it is not what the person had in mind, I hang it in the store for sale. This way there is no pressure on the buyer or me. In this case, she loved it and purchased it. This always makes me happy.

Take to the Sky & Water is a 24"x30" acrylic painting on stretched canvas with painted edges. There is a lot of paint on this canvas. This piece is sold.

Setting Summer Sun *SOLD

When approached to paint a scene of hanging laundry, similar to a piece I painted in the past, I imagined an evening summer scene. My last painting felt more like farm land and this one I wanted to feel like lake country. A classic cabin and lake shore, along with timeless clothing, give this piece a feeling of the past but it could easily be present day. I wanted this painting to feel calm - she is content to be where she is.

Setting Summer Sun is a 20"x16" brushed acrylic ink painting on 140 lb. hot press Arches paper. The original is sold. I will have prints and cards available this spring at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN. | 218-547-3729

Something in the Air *SOLD

The first week of May in Minnesota tends to be a turning point. The ground has thawed and enough rain has fallen to start the grass turning to green and growing. Gardens have been raked and the sun is warm enough to make you feel the coming summer. The breezes are warmer, you smell fresh cut grass and hear warm weather birds arriving with delight. You have this excitement to be on the water and enjoying lake time. You pour yourself a glass of wine, walk to the dock and look out over the water. You close your eyes and think _something good is in the air! That is what this piece is about.

Something in the Air is a brushed acrylic ink painting on 140 lb. hot press paper. It is professionally framed with conservation glass to a final size of 14" square. The original is sold. 8" prints on powder coated steel are available for $42.00. Cards are also available at Peculiar Painter. | 218-547-3729

Great Mother Cardinal NFS

My Grandmother asked me to design her Christmas cards last year. I immediately thought of a sweet bird in a winter setting. My thoughts went to the female cardinal for their regal presence and beauty. I have not seen a cardinal in our yard in many years so I referenced photos I took in Wisconsin, the year before. To my delight, several weeks after finishing this painting, one lone female cardinal started to visit our feeder. She was beautiful and social. She would be the first one to sit at the empty feeder and look in the window to request more seed. We were buddies and she made me think of Grandmother. She stayed about a month before heading on, probably to find more cardinal friends but I think she will be back!

Great Mother Cardinal is a brushed acrylic ink painting on 140 lb. hot press paper. The original hangs and my Grandmother's place - where she belongs.
