Modern Scandinavian - Natures Vibration •SOLD

I started this painting as a loose sketch on watercolor paper. I was giving a painting demonstration to my son's school and wanted to show techniques of painting. The sketch remained unpainted for a year, until last month when I couldn't resist adding color to it.

My brain has been healing from a head concussion. The thought of relaxing and painting with bright colors was calming to my mind and eyes. I worked slowly, layering color and adding movement to the piece. I added a hummingbird in flight along with a feeling of the hummingbird trail around the Dahlias.

This is a brushed acrylic ink painting on 140 lb. hot press Arches watercolor paper. It is professionally framed with conservation glass. The final size is 22.5" square.

8" prints on powder coated steel are available at Peculiar Painter for $42 | 218-547-3729

Modern Scandinavian Dahlia Garden *SOLD

It's the season to add to my Modern Scandinavian series. When things calm down and I get to  reflect on the year - more colorful and whimsical creations come about. The top photo is from my Mom's garden early in the fall. Her Dahlias are amazing with their wild movement and intricate pieces - so much life, color and personality!

Modern Scandinavian Dahlia Garden is an acrylic painting on deep edge stretched canvas. Stretcher bars are 1.5" thick with cross braces. Edges are painted. Size is 10"x30". This piece is available at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN  | 218-547-3729
