 Embrace the Day _ is the latest in my Walker, Minnesota painting series. I had this vision, on a warm, blue sky, no wind day, late last summer. Part of the joy of living in this area is the anticipation of getting out on the water. When your days work is done and you find a little space to get outside and feel the water, sun and hear the birds call - something in you calms, balances and resets. This piece is about the moment you find your space.

The joy and lightness that surrounds friendship is like nothing else. I see friends that go back a few years to decades, wandering town and enjoying being together and reminiscing about the past. They know each others taste and style as they shop and they encourage each other and are filled with joy to spend time together. That is what this painting is about.

Take a Pup for a Ski •NFS

My end of the year paperwork is pretty much done...which means my mind can settle and sketch. I have so many paintings I am eager to get to! This painting has been in my mind for a year. It is of my sister and her dog - out for a ski on the frozen lake. I have some minor adjustments to make and then it will be on its way to her. I will have cards available at Peculiar Painter soon!

Call of Summer *SOLD

 Who doesn't think of the loon call when they think about spending time on the lake? I look forward to the pair of loons that have become friendly and swim and fish near me as I paddle in the bay. Their intricate design is a gorgeous dance of my favorite patterns - stripes and polka dots!

January •SOLD

 December comes with a lot of anticipation. We have programs to prepare for, work to finalize, cookies to bake and parties to attend. We have trees to decorate and gifts to buy and travel plans to organize. December is excitement and decorations and eating too much. And then comes January. 

January we think about the new year and all the possibilities. We eat cleaner and savor our morning coffee and have time for ourselves. We light candles and breathe slower and nestle in for the winter. We restore ourselves and re-balance. January is calm and balance and warmth. ..at least that is what I imagined when I painted this piece.

Junco Tree •SOLD

 When the Juncos come through they add such a lively flurry to their surroundings. I confess, I keep the bird seed stocked when I see them - just to keep them around longer. I can spend hours watching them flurry about. It seems like they are always in a group - dotting the trees with adorable little round silhouettes.

One Thread One Drop One Light •SOLD

 If you have ever stood up on a paddle board - on a calm day - you know this feeling. A calm meditation on water begins. The sounds around the lake relax you, the motion of the paddle revives you and the feeling of standing on water is like nothing else. You feel the beauty of the light and colors around you - dancing off of the water. 

I have this vision of painting a paddle series from above. With the help of my brother's drone flying skills, I have a collection of photos to help inspire this series. This is the start of a series of painting from above, as the paddle shapes the water and the light dances from above.
