I painted a companion pieces to Blanket Wrap. These little figurative pieces are an ode to morning views of nature while enjoying a cup of coffee. I painted them in a loose relaxed style to match the mood.

I always look forward to Regatta weekend in Walker. Not only are the boats out to admire but Walker city dock is filled with people watching the boats - giving me more painting subjects. This sweet sailboat was actually captured on film by my sister Josie Trudgeon [http://www.josietrudgeon.com] when she was in town over the 4th of July holiday. I liked the shape of the front sail - pulling the boat along it's way. I painted it over the LLR weekend - inspired by more boats.

The transformation of a milkweed plant fascinates me. This plant re-invents itself so often it's almost un-recognizable from month to month. I could paint milkweed everyday for a year and not get tired of it.

| Even if we don't sail - I think we all can appreciate the sight of a boat propelled by wind and a navigator. This small catamaran sailed by me this summer. The sailor was too far away to recognize but the relaxed posture behind the sails said that he/she was happy to be guiding that bright little boat. | The more I paint in watercolor…the more I love it. The fact that it lets me paint some areas tight and defined and then let the watercolor just run in other areas - makes it addicting. This painting style is what I used with Sitting Tall. The tree has detail but the ground it sits on is loose. I will be teaching a class on this method this week and I can't wait to see the paintings that come out of the lesson. | Amur Maple trees outline the town of Walker, MN with their flowing style. There is nothing straight and orderly about these little beauties. Their angled trunks and wild hair styles make me happy. In the winter they keep their silvery seeds like packets of wishes waiting to be wished on. The stylin Amur calls to be painted during every season. This little 8" x 10" watercolor is the third in my Scandinavian Garden series. My intention was not to create a windmill farm but now that the piece is complete, all I really see is wind power and wishes. My alternate title is Windpower and Wishes but since it is a part of a series we will keep it in the Scandinavian Garden series.

| We are nearing the start of the 2013 Leech Lake Regatta and judging by the amount of sailboats filling the bay already, a few are practicing. I was sitting on the Walker Bay dock watching a few of the boats, the other day, and this one struck me as a finely tuned vessel. The Captan was relaxed and obviously at one with his boat.
