Balance in Rhythm •NFS

In the past, I painted a young woman cozy on a couch reading her book. Many people seem to relate to this image which always makes me feel good. Someone mentioned that a painting of someone knitting would be fun to see too. This thought stuck with me and I knew exactly who would be the inspiration for this piece.

My Mother in Law Mary, has the kindest heart and an old soul. We often find her in the kitchen baking or cooking all the favorite recipes of the family. If she's not in the kitchen you can probably find her in her sewing room or crocheting something wonderful. Her house is cozy and clean and always welcoming. She has a classic style and warm face and has a knack for getting everyone to open up and share stories over a cup of coffee or mixed drink. I hope you have a Mary in your life and you feel that welcome energy and love when you see this piece.

The original will be going to Mary. I do have prints on tiles and cards coming and hope to have paper prints and maybe prints on steel in the near future. The original is brushed acrylic ink on 140 lb. hot press paper.

Braids, Baskets and Sun-dress Days *SOLD

This mother and daughter visit my shop occasionally. They are always dressed cute and are thoughtful with their family. On this particular day I couldn't resist asking to photograph them. Aimee was shopping with her basket on her arm as her daughter looked on. Both had a lovely energy about them and they humored me while I took a few photos.

My 3 year old son was intrigued when I showed him the finished piece. He commented on the basket, the girl and her Mom - imagining who they were. After some thought he said to me, "Mom, you painted them the wrong way - I can't see them."
