Forest Finale •SOLD

This painting has been in process since late October, when the trees were full of dancing color and I couldn't get enough of it. It lasts such a short time and is so amazing. I admit - I took about 1000 photos to reference for more paintings. I kept the birch in the foreground with hint of Maple, Oak, Pine and others represented with the variety of color. I wanted this piece to feel like your eyes were drifting through layers and layers of tree color.

Nuthatch Holiday NFS•Prints coming soon

 I have had the vision for this painting since last winter. My In-Laws have a bird feeder that looks like a snowman - when the birds land on it - I can't help but giggle. I imagine a real snowman with the birds sitting on its face. And so - that was the inspiration for this painting. 

I cropped the side of the snowman's face tight so Joel, at Heritage Framing, came up with a shadow box style framing which I think compliments the feel just right.

Susan's Style •SOLD

 Some people just inspire me. Susan, is one of these people. She knows who she is and I can tell she enjoys her life. Her style varies from sporty to refined. I imagine that her closet is a full of wonderful layers to fit every season. I bet she would be really fun to go clothes shopping with. She stopped into the store recently, wearing this nautical jacket, wide leg pants and natural toned shoes - exactly the style I like to paint. I couldn't resist asking if I could snap a few photos for painting inspiration. Hesitantly she agreed. Bittersweet Season

 It's that time of year - Bittersweet harvesting! I found a nice healthy vine and it sparked a new bittersweet berry painting. This one is a little different from my past pieces for 2 reasons. #1 it is painted on a aquaboard panel. #2 - I worked with Heritage framing who created a fun shadow box style frame which gives it a more dimensional appearance.

Puppy Days •SOLD

 The amount of time a puppy is a puppy is so fleeting. Maybe that is why seeing those big puppy paws and floppy ears are so happy and memorable. This puppy and woman were at city park, one afternoon, when I was there with my son. The puppy actually wasn't with the woman but she took a moment to pet it and looked thoughtful as it played by her feet.

Skating Lessons

Teaching a child to skate takes patience but it is one of the great gifts you can pass down. I remember watching my Mom skate with her long graceful glide. She patiently taught each of us kids to skate and I am thankful for that. Skating is such a great northern state past time. This painting was inspired by a Mother daughter pair I came across in Wisconsin, last winter. They represent anyone who has bundled up and taken a few falls in order to enjoy this magical winter sport.
