Good Days - series 1 & 2 •SOLD

It was an exciting day around our house, a few years ago, when my nieces bought new kayaks. I photographed them on the water as they tested out their kayaks. It was a sunny spring day and those photos have given me plenty of painting inspiration. For those of you who love the movement of kayaking and open water - I hope you connect with these.

Good Days - series 1(top photo) & 2(bottom photo) are brushed acrylic ink on 140 lb. hot press paper. They are double matted and framed with conservation glass. I did modify the matting by painting them an off white tone which gives the pieces a playful but less polished feel. I suggest seeing them in person to see how you feel about them. Good Days series 1 is framed to a final size of 11.75"x8.75". Good Days series 2 is framed to a final size of 11.5"x9.5".

Bull Rush & Wild Rice Passages *SOLD (prints available)

While out fishing with my husband, late this summer, we came across a fisherman in a kayak. He knew his way around the wild rice and through the bull rush like he fished those waters often. As the sun started to set his neighbors, in their motor boats, would check on him and see how the fishing was. His presence amongst the reeds seemed as natural as a Heron fishing along the shoreline. As this fisherman paddled into the sunset I took a few photos. I was eager to get this scene in paint while it was fresh in my mind. I hope you can feel the natural flow of this peaceful human in nature.

Bull Rush and Wild Rice Passages is professionally framed with double off white matte and non glare glass. Final framed size is 18”x15.5”. This piece is available at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN  | 218-547-3729

Note: This image is printed on 4” metal ornaments which are available for $12 and prints on paper for $25.00

October Paddle *SOLD

October Paddle was inspired by a beautiful evening, a man (my husband) and his fishing rod, a canoe with ties to Minnesota and the reflection that a steady stroke makes on a calm lake.

I have had this painting in mind for some time and finally had the right subject to paint. As with all my paintings, I started out with a sketch in paint - an underpainting. This portion came along fast as I was anxious to get this image down in paint. My husband says that he must inspire me - which he does. The layers happened over several weeks as I added many colors and details. I wanted the water to be just as much a part of the painting as the movement of the canoe.

October Paddle is a 30" x 40" acrylic painting on stretched canvas with 1.5" thick stretcher bars and painted edges. Available at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN | 218-547-3729
