West Wind & White Caps *SOLD

Think of a stretch of hot summer days with no wind. You soak up the sun, play on the water and take it all in...and then...the wind shifts and the temperature drops. The cool air brings a welcome change. You get to layer up and enjoy some bug free days and savor a hot cup of coffee before returning to the steamy summer days once again. That is what this piece is about - the relief the weather brings.

West Wind & White Caps is a brushed acrylic ink painting on 140 lb. hot press paper. It is framed with conservation glass to a final size of 11"x13" in a deep 1.5" thick maple frame. This piece is available at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN.  | 218-547-3729

Balance *SOLD

The Great Blue Heron appears out of nowhere when you least expect him. Nothing else moves like this graceful creatures. They have a mythical quality about them that fascinates me.

I have been photographing the Heron that visits us regularly but never quite captured the pose I wanted to paint. One afternoon, when my husband was working from home, he captured a photo of the heron at the end of a dock - in the exact pose I wanted to paint!

Balance is an acrylic based ink painting on 140 lb. hot press paper. It is professionally framed with conservation glass and a beautiful - wood base - metallic finish frame that compliments it perfectly. Framing is by Heritage Framing in Walker, MN. The final framed size is about 15"x24" (I will enter exact measurements soon.) This piece is available at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN  | 218-547-3729

6"x12" print on steel with hanging brackets are also available at Peculiar Painter for $42.00

The Wild Ones *SOLD

It has been some time since I have worked on wood panel and I forgot how fun a smooth wood surface is to paint on. This piece was inspired by the grasses, wheat and wild "things" that add warmth to our scenery. I used only 5 colors on this piece in an attempt to add calm to the wild movement of the subject.

The Wild Ones is a 6"x12" acrylic painting on 1/4" thick wood panel.

Strawberry Blonde Summer *SOLD

As my nieces and nephews get older - and more reflective - they become subjects for more paintings. Most times they have no idea I have captured their images for my panting files. This moment was captured last summer as my oldest niece watched her cousins playing on the lake. I am enjoying observing these beautiful souls and seeing where their interests take them.

Strawberry Blonde Summer is a brushed acrylic ink painting on 350 lb. paper. It is professionally framed with conservation glass. The final size is 11"x8.25". This piece is available at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN  218-547-3729

Blue Deep *SOLD

When I started this canvas I was picturing water singing with deep blues under a blue sky. I was going for an emotional connection with thick layers dancing off of each other. The more the piece developed the more I felt it needed context. Sometimes I just can't leave an abstract as an abstract and this is one of those times. I feel like the piece is still about the water but the pair canoeing help give it a nice flow.

Blue Deep is acrylic on canvas with 1.5" thick stretcher bars and painted edges. The size is 24"x36". This piece is available at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN  | 218-547-3729

Bossa Nova Begonia *SOLD

Last summer, I had a hanging basket with a Bossa Nova Begonia in it. This gorgeous plant welcomed me everyday. The reds and lovely vines fascinated me. I just had to paint it. One day I am going to paint a large piece inspired by this beauty. I saved the bulbs and hope I get to plant them very soon

Bossa Nova Begonia is a brushed acrylic ink painting on 187 lb. hot press paper. This piece is professionally framed and matted to a final size of 19.5" x 6.5". It is available at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN | 218-547-3729

Campsite Comforts *SOLD (prints available)

I have had the vision for this painting since 2017. Some friends came to visit years ago and they stayed at the Shores of Leech Lake - Campsite #1. It was a gorgeous and hot September evening when we visited their campsite. I was taking photos of the scenery when my husband wandered around look at the lake view. I pictured him holding a cup of coffee and relaxing. When I started to sketch out the scene I mentioned to my husband that it needed something more. He imagined a boy playing or fishing on the rocks and I said - of course! This is based on my family but I painted it in a way that - hopefully - lets you imagine your family - enjoying the lake and family time.

Campsite comforts is an acrylic ink painting on 187 lb. mixed media paper. The painted area measures 14" square. The final framed piece measures 20.5" square. The frame is Italian made with a gritty texture. This piece is framed with conservation glass. The original is available at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN | 218-547-3729.

I also have cards and metal prints available. Metal prints are 8" square with hangers - $42.00. Paper prints will be available soon as well. This is the latest in my Walker, Minn. series paintings - by Jessie Townsdin Stolzman. (The prints are brighter than the original)
