Communicating with the Light

In the middle of winter - do you let your mind wander to warm...maybe even hot days on the lake. The sun feels so good on your face that you paddle toward it. There are birds calling and fish swimming. The lake is so clear you can see down 8 feet. Maybe...the water feels so good you jump in and float! Ah Summer on the lake.

Communicating with the Light is a 16" square brushed ink painting on 368 lb. mixed media hot press paper. The original is professionally framed in a beautiful maple frame with grey mat and conservation glass. It is available at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN for $985.00. Final framed size is 25.25" square. Prints are also available. Print size is 12" square plus a 2" white border - 16" total. Prints are $35 unframed.

Canada *Not For Sale

I have admired a photo my husband Matt, took when he was on a fishing trip to Canada years ago. The photo felt so peaceful and conjured up thoughts of bonfires, calm evenings, fresh fish fries with the family and bundling up with a blanket to watch the sun set and tell stories of being on the lake. I loved everything about the photo.

After moving into our new home this fall, I pictured this scene above our mantel. I mentioned the idea to Matt and he liked the idea too. 6 months after moving in - I painted a painting for us. It has been some time since I worked on a piece specifically for our house!

This piece is 40"x30" - acrylic on stretched canvas with painted edges. It is not for sale because it hangs in our home!

I did say I was in the mood to paint irises! This piece contrasts my last piece in medium and color. I went bold - Modern Scandinavian style for this piece. With it's large size it is a statement piece - meant to make you feel sunshine, joy and  open spaces filled with life.

Subtle Iris

With this piece I wanted the irises to feel elegant with a simple but refined presence. If you have ever stumbled upon irises in the wild you know how striking they are. 

I painted this pieces specifically for this frame. It is a modern - almost masculine frame. I thought the angular piece would work with it. Subtle Iris is a brushed ink painting on 140 lb. hot press arches paper. Framed size is 11.5" x 16.5". The original is not for sale.
