 Wooden docks and red bench seat boats have a special place in my heart. I imagine these items make connections with many people who grew up on the lakes "Up North."  There is a certain style that comes with being in the woods and on the lakes. Weaving Reflections

 I have had this image in my mind for so long - it is satisfying to finally see it come to life! Bull Rush often appear in my paintings as a border but I wanted to see it as the main focus. When dried grasses wrap around the green Bull Rush it gives them a delicate woven quality. I wanted this piece to have a meditative quality. The blues, greens and yellow are subtle against the weaving reflections of the bull rush reflecting in the water.

Tree on the Hill Overlooking the Church •SOLD

 There is a tree overlooking the Church/School that my son goes to. I see this tree in every type of weather and admire its beauty. It stands like the guardian of the church - tall and majestic. I couldn't help but paint it.

Meant To Be •SOLD

We don't see Red Starts around here very often but when we do.. it is very exciting. I have painted this particular Red Start in the past and I wanted to paint him again. After coming across this barn wood red frame I knew the perfect subject to fill it. The background color is a subtle grey green which really sets off the richness of the frame.

 Woodpeckers and their wind rowing flight patterns have always fascinated. I have painted several pieces which have been inspired by them. The Pileated woodpecker, in particular, with its wide wingspan and lovely head-dress and striking colors against the winter backdrop make for a fun subject.

Birch Tree Vertical Textile •SOLD

 The title of this painting is: Birch Tree Vertical Textile. I hope to turn the design into a woven textile this spring. The dimensions were chosen for that reason. 14"x47" is the standard size of a Swedish table runner. 

I bonded with this piece and was thinking about keeping it. One of my favorite customers asked me what I was working on. When I described the piece she said that might be exactly what they were looking for, for their new house. I said I would let her know when it was finished and it was what she was looking for. Knowing the painting is going to a happy home, where it will be appreciated, makes it easier to part with. 

I don't have a photo of the final framed piece because I sold it unframed. I am working on converting the painting to a vector based illustration which I will have a textile sample made to see how it looks. I kept the colors simple and elegant for this piece hoping that the textile version will go well against many neutral colors. This is a brushed acrylic ink painting on 140 lb. Good Days - series 1 & 2

 It was an exciting day around our house, a few years ago, when my nieces bought new kayaks. I photographed them on the water as they tested out their kayaks. It was a sunny spring day and those photos have given me plenty of painting inspiration. For those of you who love the movement of kayaking and open water - I hope you connect with these. 

Good Days - series 1(top photo) & 2(bottom photo) are brushed acrylic ink on 140 lb. hot press paper. They are double matted and framed with conservation glass. I did modify the matting by painting them an off white tone which gives the pieces a playful but less polished feel. I suggest seeing them in person to see how you feel about them. Mother Son Bond

Recently, I had someone ask me if I have painted a Mother and Son scene? I had to think about it and realized that I have not, which is odd since I am a Mother to a son and I love the strong bond we have. Since then, I have been visualizing what_Mother and Son scene would be fun to paint. I see fun examples of strong Mother and Son bonds all around me and look forward to painting more of these pairs!
