This is the Day

Two things have stayed consistent in my mind since mid-March. #1: my favorite Sunday school song - "This is the day that the Lord has made. We shall rejoice and be glad in it" - has been in my head nearly every morning. #2: I have had the need to paint a red and yellow ochre painting. The graceful flow of Elm Tree leaves felt right for this painting. I actually added more color and a horizon line to this piece but it didn't match my vision. More layers were added, the mood calmed and my vision was complete.

Kabekona Bay Sunset View •SOLD

Those of you who travel north of Walker, around sunset time, know the vibrant color that fills the sky and lake on Kabekona Bay. Some residents are lucky enough to have this view in their backyards. When I was asked to paint the view from one of these yards I was happy to. This is a commissioned piece. I was given several reference photos capturing the peaceful mood of the scene. I love when photos are taken knowing how I enjoy painting 3/4 to back view. 

Kabekona Bay Sunset View is a 20" square brushed acrylic ink painting on 140 lb. hot press paper with an additional 2" border.
