I find it surprisingly satisfying painting bugs. I photographed this sweet grasshopper last year. He/She was waiting for a quiet day at the shop to be painted. I had a simple color palette in my mind for this narrow piece. The wildflowers are a Fleabane. I exaggerated the size, a bit, to give the painting a whimsical feel.

Sundown Iris •SOLD

 I don't know if it is because they don't last long after being picked or that they grow so petite and lovely in the wild but something about an Iris always captures me. I don't even have a favorite color of Iris - every single one is amazing. This is another subject I could just paint every day and not get bored.
