Scandinavian Underwater Garden II *SOLD

In the bright watercolor style of my Scandinavian Garden series, I have added a new Underwater Garden painting. This little watercolor is very light and playful. The M Graham watercolor palette is an intense play of complimentary colors.

I just dropped it off to be framed in the same ridged frame that the rest of the Scandinavian Garden series is framed in. Available soon at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN.

Fly About - original graphite drawing *SOLD

My favorite bird variety changes from time to time but lately the woodpecker and it's fly - fly - glide style really speaks to me. This graphite drawing represents 3 Woodpeckers in flight. I tried to give the drawing a fluid feel as if all three birds are one. The piece is as much about the motion of the lines of the drawing as it is about the swoop of the Woodpecker's flight style.

Fly About is a 16" x 20" framed and matted graphite drawing on 140 lb. watercolor paper. Available at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN. $98.00 | 218-547-3729

Light Among the Wind - Totem Painting

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwHVxp7uV2k

Light Among the Wind is a totem style painting where I used an overpainting method to give it a textile appearance with clean fluid lines. This 6"x12" painting is acrylic on textured wood panel. Click the link above to see the steps involved in creating this little colorful piece.
Light Among the Wind is available at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN - $65. 218-547-3729

Blue Angelica - Original by Jessie Townsdin *SOLD

Blue Angelica is complete.  After paring-down my palette to 6 main colors, I decided to keep my used tubes and see how much paint really goes into a canvas this size. As you can see - Blue Angelica provided many hours of entertainment as I built up the blues for a rich buttery base of paint.

This piece is a large 40" x 40" acrylic painting on stretched canvas. The stretcher bars are 1.5" thick with cross braces.

Angelica, with it's protective and healing properties, was my inspiration here.

Blue Angelica is available at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN. | 218-547-37

Scandinavian Underwater Garden and Quail of a Tale - *SOLD

These are funny little watercolors done in the same style as the Scandinavian Garden series of watercolor paintings. Quail of a Tale and Underwater Garden are light and colorful little whimsical pieces designed to bring happiness to a room. I gave "Quail of a Tale" an ethnic swirl to play off of the Quail's head-feather.

Quail of a Tale is a framed 8" x 10" watercolor on arches 140 lb watercolor paper. $38.00

Scandinavian Underwater Garden is a framed and matted watercolor painting on 140 lb watercolor paper. $66.00

Spring Suspense revisited - *SOLD

I painted "Spring Suspense" originally in 2012. Something about it just didn't sit quite right with me. I was trying to capture an early spring moment where a fishermen waded out into the high waters in search of a fish and more likely some fresh air and peace of mind. By using an impressionist dappled effect the painting has more movement and the feel of moving waters. The piece has a cooler feel to it as well and makes the fishermen look smaller compared to the nature around him, which is what he seemed to be in search of.

Spring Suspense is 16" x 20" - acrylic on stretched canvas. It is available at Peculiar Painter in Walker, MN for $95.00. 218-547-3729

Peaceful Entrance - *SOLD

When the snow melts and the sweet scent of blossoms start to fill the air, the apple blossoms are the ones I really look forward to. They stay such a short time and add a feathery softness to the twisting branches. The more blossoms there are..the more I have to look forward to come fall. Like magic - the fresh little petals mark the places where the apples will appear.

Peaceful Entrance is a 16" x 20" acrylic painting on wood panel. I triple primed the panel to give it a smooth surface and then layered colors to give this piece an almost egg tempera effect. The palette is a calming sky blue and ivory with warms grays, silvery greens and a touch of yellow ocher.
